The CITB Employer Network is a CITB funded initiative designed to simplify how construction employers access training and funding. In a bid to encourage employers to upskill their workforce CITB is offering each registered employer funding of up to £25,000 each year to use towards training requirements.
3B Training was involved in the pilot of this scheme for 12 months prior to its launch in 2024 and we’ve already supported numerous employers to access more funding for their training.
As part of the CITB Employer Network you will have a local advisor to support you with your training needs. All you need to do is contact them to let them know what training you’d like, and they will organise it for you! They will liaise with approved training providers and secure the funding for you, so you don’t have to worry about completing paperwork or application processes.
The best part is that any training booked through the Employer Network is 70% funded by CITB! You’ll just need to pay the remaining 30% directly to the training provider.
Unlike the Skills & Training Fund, you don’t need to plan your training up to 12 months in advance. You can simply book your training through the Employer Network on an ad-hoc basis.
Courses don’t necessarily need to be grant claimable or mapped to a CITB training standard to be booked through the Employer Network. There isn’t currently a set list of eligible courses, these are reviewed by the CITB Employer Network on a case-by-case basis depending on your training needs. In our experience you can get funding towards courses that aren’t claimable under other funding routes, such as the Skills & Training Fund or Achievement Grant. For example, IOSH Managing Safely and First Aid.
Employer Network funding can be used for courses delivered in a classroom or online as well as eLearning courses and NVQs.
Employer Network funding can be used in conjunction with other funding routes, such as the Skills & Training Fund and Achievement Grant, as long as the multiple funding options aren’t used for the same training course. 3B Training can support you to maximise the funding you receive.
As the CITB Employer Networks operate at a local level, they ensure that the training you receive is tailored to the specific needs of your region and industry and can adapt accordingly. Since their pilot in July 2022, these networks have proven to be a successful and valuable resource for many businesses across the UK.
To sign up to the CITB Employer Network you must be a CITB registered employer, have submitted your most recent levy return and be up to date with your levy payments. After that, it’s as simple as signing CITB’s Employer Network Commitment Statement. The commitment statement outlines both CITB’s responsibilities and yours as the Employer.
Unlike some other funding routes, there is no cap on the size of the employer, everyone is eligible.
As one of the largest training providers in the UK, 3B Training is already helping construction employers access this funding. If you’re interested in receiving 70% funding towards your training, contact us for more information.
Providing you’re CITB registered, up to date with levy payments and have an Employer Network within your area, you are eligible to receive this funding.
It’s free to join the Employer Network. If you’re a levy-registered employer, you can contact your local CITB Advisor to join the network. Alternatively, contact 3B Training and we can help.
The funding can be used towards training that is delivered in-person or online. It’s also eligible for in-house courses (also known as dedicated courses), NVQs and eLearning.
As long as all the employers meet the requirements set, there isn’t a cap on how many can join an Employer Network.
You can be in a local and sector-specific Employer Network, as long as both are relevant to your company. Sector secific networks are being phased out but will continue to run until the end of 2024.
By December 2024, CITB Employer Networks will be available throughout all of Great Britain. If there isn’t already one in your area, keep an eye out or speak to your advisor to see when your Employer Network is due to launch. In the meantime, you can continue to access funding support via other routes.
Members of Training Groups can benefit from Employer Networks. If you’ve spoken to your Group Training Officer about your training requirements, they can pass this onto the Employer Network advisor. Training Groups and Employer Networks collaborate closely to make sure employers receive the best support and access to training to meet their needs.
You can access Employer Network funding in addition to your live Skills & Training Fund bid! We recommend contacting us to discuss your individual circumstances and how the Employer Network funding can complement your existing bid.
Details of local network areas and contact information can be found on the CITB website. Alternatively, contact 3B Training and we can introduce you.
