CITB Skills and Training Fund

The CITB Skills and Training Fund is a pot of funding set aside from Levy payments that construction companies pay to CITB each year. Construction companies who are CITB registered and are up to date with their Levy Returns can apply for funding of up to £50,000 per annum to train their workforce.

There are two different funding pots available:

  • Small and mirco-sized businesses with up to 99 employees
  • Medium sized businesses with between 100 and 250 employees

As of 1st September 2023, companies are able to process two funding bids every 12 months. Contact us for more information or for support with your application.

  • Who can apply for funding?
    Who can apply for funding?

    You can apply for CITB Skills and Training Funding if:

    • You are a CITB-registered employer
    • You have 1-250 directly employed staff on the payroll (employees must be in addition to yourself / business owner)
    • Any previous project paid for by the Skills and Training fund has been signed off as complete.

  • How much can you apply for from the CITB Skills and Training Fund?

    The amount you can apply for per year depends on the size of the business.

    Small and micro-sized construction businesses:

    • Employers with 1 to 49 directly employed staff can receive up to £10,000.
    • Employers with 50 to 74 directly employed staff can receive up to £15,000.
    • Employers with 75 to 99 directly employed staff can receive up to £20,000.

    Medium-sized construction business:

    • Employers with between 100 and 149 directly-employed staff can receive up to £30,000.
    • Employers with between 150 and 199 directly-employed staff can receive up to £40,000.
    • Employers with between 200 and 250 directly-employed staff can receive up to £50,000.
  • How do we apply for the CITB Skills and Training Fund?

    Alternatively, you can complete the application form yourself following the guidance provided by the CITB.

  • How can 3B Training support your funding bid?

    As part of the application, you as the employer need to outline your training plan for the next 12 months. Our team at 3B can help you by providing lists of available grant claimable courses and any additional supporting information you need to complete your application.

    We can also provide you with a competitive quote based on your training requirements to support your application.

    We offer this as a FREE service and our team have a wealth of experience in submitting these applications since they were intorduced in 2018.

  • What happens once I have applied for funding?

    Once you have applied for your funding, the CITB team will assess your application. They take around four weeks to make their decision.

    If your decision is declined you need to notify as soon as possible to [email protected].

  • Why has my funding been declined?

    CITB may decline your funding request due to:

    • You asking for funding on a course that doesn’t relate to construction.
    • Your application doesn’t contain the required information.
    • You have not submitted a Levy Return.
    • You are behind on Levy payments.
