The NVQ Level 4 in Supervising Lifting Operations is a competence-based qualification designed for any individual working in the construction industry who requires a CSCS card and a nationally recognised qualification in crane supervision.
You can use this NVQ to demonstrate compliance with industry standards by fulfilling the lifting operations requirements of your role.
NOTE: You will need approx. 2 years of experience in the role related to this NVQ, and currently be working in a relevant role.
Anyone looking to upgrade to the NPORS and CPCS Crane Supervisor Competent Operator Card should take this qualification.
This NVQ includes the following units:
Upon enrolment
You will have an assessor assigned to you. The assessor will arrange 3 site visits to observe you overseeing lifting operations in a real work environment.
They will also arrange a remote or on-site induction.
After the suitability call with the assessor and the booking of the NVQ, your assessor will contact you within two weeks to schedule an induction. The induction is designed to agree a plan of assessment.
You will be assessed on-site through a combination of on-the-job methods.
Such as on-site observations, discussion, work product evidence, questioning, written questions, and witness testimonials.

Typical completion time is 4-6 months, and all learners are supported to complete within a 6-month timeframe, however this depends on how quickly you are able to meet the requirements of the NVQ.
Our assessors can arrange calls, evidence gathering and assessments around your workload; the NVQ format is very flexible.
On completion of the NVQ, you are required to apply to CSCS directly for your card and supply them with your NVQ certificate details.
You will also need to complete the relevant CITB Health, Safety & Environment test before applying for your CSCS card.
You must be 16 or over and be working as a Lift Supervisor or Crane Supervisor.
Yes, this Level 4 NVQ is accredited by ProQual or GQA Qualification.
CITB Skills and Training Fund and Grants can be claimed by CITB registered companies for this NVQ.
